I'm not an expert in antique photography but I believe this is a ninth plate daguerreotype photo in a leather case. These were produced in the 19th Century, around 1839 through the 1890s. Closes with a tiny latch on one side.

• SIZE OF CASE: 2 3/8" x 2 7/8" x 5/8"

CONDITION OF ITEM:

• Some wear to the edges and raised pattern on the leather of the outer case.
• The embossed velvet and actually photo and frame and in excellent condition.
